Kuala Lumpur, 6 December 2012 - OSK Investment House (Malaysia) Berhad (OSK Malaysia), the first foreign Islamic bank in the country, launched its partnership with Animonsta Studio Sdn Bhd (Animonsta), an animation content developer, on the sponsorships of BoBoiBoy the series and the new public service announcement series Apa Kata Yaya?. The Bank is also participating in the Media Prima’s Bananana Land ground event together with BoBoiBoy at Pulau Duyong, Terengganu.
Commenting on the initiative, Dato’ Jamelah Jamaluddin, Chief Executive Officer, OSK Malaysia, said, “The Bank’s collaboration with Animonsta is part of our overall branding strategy to reach out to the retail and consumer market, in particular, the children and the ‘young at heart’ segment. We believe that these high quality animation series are a positive influence to our children with the BoBoiBoy character emphasising strong values and commitment to excellence, and the Yaya character representing an inspiring young Muslimah.”
Encik Nizam Razak, Managing Director, Animonsta, who was equally excited about the move said, “This collaboration with OSK Malaysia is the next big step for Animonsta and BoBoiBoy. Through this partnership, the efforts to produce animation with positive elements will reach new heights. We believe through BoBoiBoy and the new public service announcement series 'Apa Kata Yaya?', everyone; especially children and parents can be entertained by animation filled with virtuous values and positive messages.”
Though it is a new brand that has only been introduced two years ago, BoBoiBoy has become the highest rated cartoon series in the Malaysian history. It is also an emerging international brand being the second highest rated show on Disney channel in 2012 where votes were casted from 16 countries. The number of average viewers has reached 2.5 million per week.
“With young consumers becoming an increasingly important segment in Islamic banking, OSK Malaysia has started to develop a range of innovative products and services to cater to this group,” explained Dato’ Jamelah. “We recently launched the KFH Junior Gold Account-i. Representing the first Shariah-compliant gold account for customers below 18 years old in Malaysia, the product enables gold deposit in a convenient, secure and affordable way and allows capital gains when the price of gold appreciates.”
The Bank’s flagship product KFH Gold Account-i for customers above 18 years old was launched in February 2010 and has been well received. At present, OSK Malaysia has a total of 12 branches in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Damansara, Shah Alam, Klang, Batu Pahat, Johor Bahru, Pulau Pinang, Kuching, Kota Bharu and Kota Kinabalu. The Bank also operates Bureaus de Change at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT), Kuala Lumpur Sentral and Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur.
