Kuala Lumpur, 28 March 2011 – OSK Investment House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFHMB), the first foreign Islamic bank in the country, launched its newest branch in Kota Kinabalu. Located at Wisma Great Eastern, No 65 Jalan Gaya, the branch marks the second in East Malaysia and ninth in KFHMB’s branch network nationwide.
The Kota Kinabalu branch offers KFHMB’s full range of Shariah-based products and services to the business sector, government bodies and retail customers. These include KFH Gold Account–i, KFH Automobile Ijarah-i, KFH Personal Financing-i and KFH Home Financing–i, among others.
Speaking at the soft opening of the new branch, Puan Jamelah Jamaluddin, Chief Executive Officer, KFHMB said, “We have chosen the city of Kota Kinabalu as our second foray in East Malaysia to cater to the needs of our growing customer base. There is a potential for Islamic banking and we aim to meet the demand for Shariah-based financial products and services in the State. In the long run, we hope our presence will support the Sabah Development Corridor’s economic development efforts, especially in key industries such as tourism, logistic, agriculture and manufacturing.”
Puan Jamelah explained that the move is in line with the Bank’s overall efforts to strengthen the OSK Investment House brand presence, enabling potential customers to interact and become valued partners nationwide. Larger resources are being utilised to increase the visibility of KFHMB’s retail and consumer banking in the Peninsular and East Malaysia.
She also thanked the authorities of the State of Sabah, as well as Bank Negara Malaysia, for their continued support towards OSK Investment House, and for the assistance in realising the new branch.
In addition to KFHMB’s existing branches in Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam, Klang, Johor Bahru, Pulau Pinang, Kuching and Kota Bharu, the Bank also operates Bureaus de Change at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT), Kuala Lumpur Sentral and Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur.
